Back-to-back training for Capiz info officers, school advisers set

ROXAS CITY (6 September) -- A back-to-back training for government information officers and school paper advisers is set to be conducted by the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) September 17-19, 2007 in Iloilo City.

PIA Assistant Director General Ma. Janet Mesa said the training-workshop on media techniques and community communications for information officers of government agencies and local government units aims to provide them with basic skills and updates on trends in journalistic writing and development communication.

On the other hand, Mesa said the seminar-workshop for school paper advisers is also designed to update the participants on journalistic writing and development communication as well as campus paper management based on the Campus Journalism Law.

The development communication session for campus paper advisers will include the "8 by '08" priority programs of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo that seek to enable Filipinos to enjoy the benefits of a vibrant economy. These include the following: job opportunities; cost of living improvement; peso appreciation; investment enhancement; education program that is pro-poor; healthcare, housing and anti-hunger; anti-terrorism measures; and, green Philippines.
