PCAPI-7 to conduct forest management seminar

By Hazel F. Gloria

Cebu City (7 September) -- The Pollution Control Association of the Philippines Inc. in Region 7 (PCAPI-7) in coordination with the University of San Jose Recoletos, Cebu Institute of Technology and Southwestern University will conduct a Forest Management Seminar and Tree Planting Activity on September 8-9, 2007, respectively in Barangay Pung-ol, Sibugay, Cebu City.

Engr. Connie Sumalinog, PCAPI-7 project coordinator said that the association has adopted the objective of Cebu Uniting for Sustainable Water (CUSW) Foundation-- "Enriching Cebu's Forest and Fruit Trees" to sustain Cebu's watershed areas and aquifers to ensure continued supply of fresh water and protection of the ecosystem.

Its commitment is to serve and provide continual environmental education in all forms and means and link with other organizations to pursue its objectives.

The Tree Planting Activity is enhanced with a seminar-workshop component to provide the participants and beneficiaries of this project the chance to internalize and recognize the significance of tree planting to man and the environment.

PCAPI-7's stewardship is not only within the limits of its members from the industry sector, commercial establishments, academe and Local Government Units but also within the community it serves. (PIA-7) [top]
