250 neophyte cops deployed in Bacolod City

Bacolod City (7 September) -- The police deployed 250 neophyte officers from the satellite regional training school in Bakyas, Brgy. Mansilingan, recently to twelve barangays in Bacolod City.

The recipients are Barangays 16, 34, 35, 36, 39 Punta Taytay, Handumanan, Mansilingan, Singcang-Airport, Sum-ag, Pahanocoy and Alijis.

Polce Supt. Redentor Retusto, Regional Training School 6 Director, said the 250 officers who are currently undergoing basic training will assist the Bacolod City Police Office in community relations activities, and in maintaining police visibility and peace and order in the city.

Retusto said that the deployment that started last month is part of the three-month Community Immersion Program or field training program of the Philippine National Police (PNP).

Through the program, the neophyte policemen will get to develop skills such as basic police field work which includes traffic control, intelligence and investigation.

Retusto added that this is part of the six-month training program required in R.A. No. 8551, or the "PNP Reform and Reorganization Act of 1998". (PIA) [top]
