Region 8 frontline service fair brings gov't nearer to people
Tacloban City (September 7) -- The Region 8 Frontline Service Fair which will be held at the Kanhuraw Convention Center on September 13–14, is an answer to President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo's thrust of bringing the government's frontline services to the people.
Civil Service Director Regional Office 8 Director Rodolfo Encajonado, during the Panindugan television program of the Philippine Information Agency, said that the public will be able to avail of the various government frontline services under one roof.
He called on the public to visit the Frontline Service Fair and take this rare opportunity of being served by the various government agencies without going from one place to another.
Nineteen government agencies will participate in the Frontline Service Fair. Among them are the Department of Health which will provide blood typing and bloodletting services; the Department of Labor and Employment which will conduct a Jobs Fair wherein 10 local companies have already signified their intention to join; and the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration was invited to provide agencies for foreign employment.
In case the applicants need to get their NBI clearances, the National Bureau of Investigation will also participate in the Fair. The Department of Foreign Affairs will also accept and process passport applications right there at the Frontline Service Fair.
The National Statistics Office will also participate for the authentication of birth certificates.
The Philippine Postal Corporation will participate in order to service the public who needs to have Postal IDs while the Land Transportation Office will be participating in order to accept applications for driver's license.
The Civil Service Commission will accept applications for the Professional and Sub-professional career examinations slated in October.
TESDA will conduct free competency assessments during the Fair. The free assessment is usually given on weekends but this time, even if it is weekday, the assessments will be free.
The other participating agencies are NFA for rice retailing, BIR for those who want to get their TIN numbers, Philhealth, Pag-ibig Fund, GSIS, the province of Leyte will offer the ICOT Caravan services and the Philippine Information Agency which will be in charged of registration of clients.
The Services will open at 8:30 in the morning up to 5:00 o'clock in the afternoon, Director Encajonado said. (PIA 8) [top]
