Sea-Air eyes Camarines Norte as flight destination

Daet, Camarines Norte (7 September) -- Efforts of the municipal government for the resumption of flight services at the Daet Airport to boost tourism in the province is drawing positive reaction.
In his eagerness to boost tourism in Camarines Norte via providing a fast transport service, Mayor Tito Sarion sought a meeting with South East Asian Airlines (SEA AIR) president Avelino Zapanta who positively responded by sending SEA-AIR Passenger Sales Division supervisor Roel C. Sibayan to conduct a study and ocular of this municipality as well as the province on the viability as flight destination of the new carrier.
Sibayan attended the Daet tourism summit and business conference initiated by Mayor Sarion and announced SEA-AIR's intent/plan to cater air transport services to Camarines Norte with the Daet-Manila route and vice versa, on or before the end of this year.
Businessmen and traders, national and local government officials, as well as setoral representatives lauded SEA-AIR's announcement to which the tourism summit and business conference participants passed a support resolution.
Mayor Sarion said SEA-AIR's intent to fly their planes to the province of Camarines Norte will compliment the plans of current and would-be investors in the locality.
He mentioned the American Firm Asia Properties that plans to put up a high-end tourist facility in Bicol particularly on a 99.41 hectare beachfront property in Camarines Norte.
Director Frank N. Lubbock of Atlas Consolidated Mining and Development Corporation, one of the investors in the province, expressed full support to the moves for the resumption of flights in Daet Airport and lauded Mayor Sarion for the initiative.
Daet Airport OIC manager Nicanor T. Olonan also lauded the intent of SEA-AIR management and extended his full support to the initiative citing its benefits for the locality. (MIO/PIA) [top]
