Crime prevention is everybody's concern, says PNP Antique

San Jose, Antique (7 September) -- In observance of the National Crime Prevention Week this September 1-7, the Philippine National Police (PNP) has intensified information campaign/advocacy in order to make the people aware of the citizens involvement towards a peaceful community, as crime prevention is everybody's concern, emphasized PNP Director Ren T. Darroca when interviewed by PIA.
The PNP station in the municipalities were directed to conduct information drive and symposia in their respective jurisdiction to discuss among others community support and involvement in crime prevention, police visibility, and drug abuse prevention, Darroca said.
The highlight of the week-long celebration include the awarding of the citizen/community-friendly police station and awarding of the Best Barangay Tanod both in the individual and group category, slated September 7 in SM City.
Equally notable was the holding of a symposium on Human Security Act, conducted in Iloilo City last September 5 with participants from Antique. The symposium enabled the participants to appreciate more the role that each pillar of the Criminal Justice System plays in the over-all crime prevention and suppression efforts of the government. Undersecretary Ricardo Blancaflor of the Department of National Defense was the lecturer.
