Oro offeres free anti-rabies shots in Lapasan September 8
Cagayan de Oro City (7 September) -- The City Veterinary Office (CVO) is inviting all pet owners, especially the dog owners, to register their dogs at the Lapasan Barangay Hall in Cagayan de Oro and have them injected with anti-rabies vaccine.
Dr. Perla Asis, city veterinarian, said that in celebration of the World Rabies Day, the city will be conducting a free vaccination drive at Lapasan barangay hall from 8:00 a.m. until all the dogs shall have been vaccinated and registered.
She added that they are concentrating their anti-rabies campaign in barangay Lapasan since it is one of the densely populated barangays in the city and has a high incidence of dog bites in the area.
Pet owners who would like to avail of the free vaccination are required to register their pet dogs for P20.00 for the dog tag, which will indicate that the dog was already viaccinated against rabies.
Dr. Asis pointed out that there is really a need to register the pet dogs in the city to easily monitor all of them, a part in their campaign to eliminate stray dogs in the city and to make the Cagayan de Oro a rabies-free city.
Dogs without tags and found roaming around will be impounded and be disposed of in 24 hours while a dog with tag will be impounded for three days before it shall be disposed of. (Cagayan de Oro City Information Office/PIA-MisOrOccCam i-Net) [top]
