Ifugao PWDs to manage livelihood center

LAGAWE, Ifugao (7 September) -- Notwithstanding their disabilities, the organization of the Persons With Disabilities (PWDs) here will put up a livelihood center right at the provincial capitol here.
Esther Bulahao of the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office, and in charge of the center said the PWDs are planning to put up a canteen in their building located at the Provincial Capitol Compound.
"The PWDs will manage the canteen for their employment. Those who know how to cook will serve as cooks while the others will become servers', Bulahao said.
She disclosed that the canteen will be funded by the Ifugao Association of Overseas Filipino Workers who pledged to donate P150,000.00 for the purpose.
The proceeds from the canteen will go to the funds of the Provincial Federation of PWDs, Bulahao said. There are 800 PWDs in the PSWDO's list.
The PWD Provincial Center which was inaugurated recently was started during the administration of former Governor Ildefonso Dulinayan who allotted P1 million, and was completed during the time of the late Governor Benjamin Cappleman who also allocated P400,000.00.
Aside from the canteen, the center will also display handicrafts, woven products of the PWDs.
The center also offers reflexology/massage services by three blind masseurs. The standard fees are P150.00 for whole body massage and P100 for half body. (PIA-Ifugao) [top]
