Davao City (8 September) -- Compostela Valle Provincial Governor Arturo "Chiongkee" Uy, said he the Provincial Government is formulating a masterplan for the 97-hectare Lamdag Panginabuhian Agricultural center which will be envisioned as a agro-tourism destination.
Speaking before the first Kapihan sa Comval media forum held last Wednesday (Sept. 5) at the Provincial Capitol in Nabunturan, Gov. Uy said that he is still very keen in continuing Lamdag.
Lamdag Panginabuhian, located in Pasian in Monkayo was the former Food Production complex of the erstwhile mother province of Davao del Norte. When the province of Compostela Valley was created, then Governor Jose Caballero developed the land as an agro-tourism project in which it became an agri-research center, nursery for livestock and poultry, livelihood training center and a food production center.
The project was recognized by the Good Practices in Local Governance: Facility for Adaptation and Replication (GO-FAR) of the DILG (Department of Interior and Local Government) as one of the projects worthy of emulation and replication by other local Governments across the country.
Gov. Uy said he is developing the road network connecting Lamdag. And he said a masterplan is needed to fully develop its potentials. "We need resources to develop Lamdag." The Governor said.
The Provincial Government is looking at the Department of Agriculture for possible technical and financial assistance to develop the sprawling agriculture center. (PIA XI) [top]
