PIA Press Release
2007/09/10

Philhealth orders immediate refund for qualified members

Koronadal City (10 September) -- Per Philhealth Circular 15, 2007, the corporation is directing all professionals and accredited health care providers who have already been reimbursed in full of the deductions made in the patient-member's account to return to the members the reimbursement due to them within the thirty (30) calendar days from receipt of such refund. Said order was released because despite previous orders it has been noted that unclaimed refund due to members abound and has been accumulating in the hands of health care providers and professionals.

Philhealth Board Resolution relative to this was already issued in Januray 2005. It was just reiterated to ensure that all Philhealth reimbursements are eventually returned to and received by rightful members.

Effective 2008, this will be one of the requirements for accreditation. By then, Accredited Health Care Providers are mandated to submit to the corporation financial report covering the reimbursements received from Philhealth specifically showing the unclaimed reimbursements due to members.

"Non compliance with this shall be penalized in accordance with the pertinent provisions of R.A 7875 as amended without prejudice to the filing of appropriate civil and/ or criminal complaint against erring health care provider," Lorna O. Fajardo, acting Prresident and CEO declared.

AS further stated, all other issuances inconsistent with this provisions are hereby amended or repealed accordingly. (PhilHealth/PIA SarGen) [top]
