Tagalog News: Doha Round, climate change pinag-usapan

Manila (10 September) -- Pinag-usapan ng dalawampu't isang (21) participating leaders sa katatapos lamang na Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) meeting ang mga isyung may kaugnayan sa climate change, energy security, at ang nabalam na Doha Round talks ng World Trade Organization (WTO).

Sa ginanap na APEC meeting, pinagtuunan ng pansin ang isyung climate change kung saan isa ito sa mga problema na hinaharap hindi lamang sa Pilipinas kundi pati na rin sa ibang panig ng mundo.

Tiwala rin ang pamahalaan ng Australia, bilang host continent-country na maaprubahan ang Sydney Declaration. Seseguro ito na maabot ng mga APEC member countries ang kanilang non-binding target na bawasan ang greenhouse gases sakaling hindi na magkakabisa ang Kyoto Protocol sa taong 2012.

Sa pangkalahatan, ikinagalak naman ng mga APEC leaders ang matagumpay at unprecedented level of security na inihanda ng Australian government sa ginanap na ika labinlimang (15) APEC Meeting. (ajph/PIA 12) [top]
