GIOs to train on media techniques, community communications

Iloilo City (10 September) -- Government Information Officers of national government agencies and local government units in the region, are slated to attend a seminar-workshop on media techniques, particularly on print and broadcast journalism and community communications.
The seminar-workshop, which is slated September 17-19, will be facilitated by the Philippine Information Agency, as a response to the request of many Information Officers for training relevant to their work.
PIA director Atty. Janet C. Mesa said government information work is something dynamic and upbeat, hence, those assuming the role must have the appropriate skills as well as theoretical foundations on communication.
The training will basically focus on Radio and Television broadcasting and hosting, journalistic writing with media relations and communication planning, communication theories and community mobilizing strategies and principles.
Expected to attend are the members of the Regional Association of Government Information Officers (AGIO), Provincial Association of Information Officers and Municipal and City Information Officers all over the region.
