DOLE gives over P1.7-M livelihood aid for Cagayan Valley
BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya (September 10) -- The national government, through the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) has handed more than P1.7 million as livelihood assistance to non-government organizations and students in Cagayan Valley.
The livelihood assistance were given by DOLE undersecretary Romeo Lagman during his week-long visit to region 02.
The assistance was the P991,964.00 for Quirino province and P21,500 for Nueva Vizcaya province, representing the 40 percent of the salaries of students under the Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES) for this year.
Another package of livelihood funds were the P79,000 for the banana processing project of the Life of the Truth Association, P75,000 for the chicharon processing project of the Villamor Upland Farmers, the P10,000 training fund for the Cabarroguis Youth Entrepreneurs' Society of the Working Youth Center, and another P50,000 for an organization in Saguday town, all of Quirino province.
The DOLE also gave P500,000 for the purchase of a fruit processing project in Aritao town in Nueva Vizcaya and P500,000 for the informal sector in Penablanca, Cagayan.
The department also facilitated funds amounting to P400,000 for the construction of a school building in barangay Quibal in Penablanca, Cagayan which was donated by Filipinos abroad.
The ground breaking ceremony of the proposed school building was done last week, attended by local government, DepEd and DOLE officials. (PIA NVizcaya) [top]
