DOLE extends P.5M to Nueva Vizcaya food processors

BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya (September 10) -- The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Friday gave P500,000 to a food processors' association in Aritao town at the provincial capitol here.

The amount is part of the P1 million livelihood assistance given by the DOLE for the purchase of an integrated food processing project of the EVA Food Processors Association(EVAFPA) in barangay Kirang in Aritao town.

EVAFPA in the said town is one of the targeted Free-Poverty Zone of the DOLE in the province. DOLE seeks to provide financial and technical assistance to livelihood organizations to improve the income of the members which would redound to their family's development.

The turnover of the P500,000 check which was given by DOLE undersecretary Romeo Lagman was witnessed by governor Luisa Cuaresma, vice governor Jose Gambito, other provincial officials and multi-agency representatives from the Office of the governor, office of congressman Carlos Padilla, Department of Trade and Industry(DTI), Department of Science and Technology(DOST), Philippine Information Agency (PIA), Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), and the beneficiaries.

Cuaresma expressed elation for the assistance, saying that the project has long been requested by the beneficiaries to improve the livelihood of the association members.

The governor said she did not hesitate when the organization asked her help for the needed food processing project.

"In fact, I was closely coordinating with congressman Carlos Padilla to help realize this project and we are very thankful for this. I am asking the beneficiaries to use the amount to really improve their project," Cuaresma said.

The governor also vowed to provide a counterpart from the provincial government for the project of the EVAFPA. (PIA NVizcaya) [top]
