Davao City (11 September) -- We urged our politicians to take the center stage in addressing foremost the poverty alleviation program, the oil crisis problem and do the best we could to keep our economy moving," he said.
"Mindanao as the land of entrepreneur has what it takes to replicate the economic performers saddle with the burden of poverty far heavier than ours are now the envy of many developing countries and economies in transition."
Congressman Garcia said "the economic horizon for Mindanao is bright and the promise that Mindanao once was, is now fulfillment in action. Mindanao has started delivering on its promises. Mindanao is now an active and dynamic force in our country's economic landscape."
He said that if country is unstable, the more it will be difficult for the businessmen to do business, especially foreign investors, who would like to invest in the country.
"It's not god for us (Filipinos) to give an impression to the rest of the world that we do not have responsible and stable government, that we are irresponsible Filipinos who do not have respect with each other. Being irresponsible is a disaster formula that might put down our country," he commented.
Congressman Garcia said the biggest victim in this kind of situation (like political bickerings) is the poorest among the poor.
"On the part of the government, the administration remained focus on the improvement and delivery of basic services to the poor sector that is in dire need of government services. This sector is vulnerable and can easily be recruited to join protest actions against the government," he said. (PIA XI) [top]
