General Santos City (September 11) -- Delighted and satisfied with the peaceful holding of the 9th Tuna Festival in the city from August 29 to September 5, Chief Supt Felizardo Manalo Serapio, Jr, regional director of the PNP Regional Police Office 12, will host this evening the historic boodle fight with the volunteers from the General Santos City Muslim Council of Elders who helped the police and the military in securing the week-long festivities marking the city's 39th Charter Anniversary.
As a tribute to the Muslim volunteers who risked their lives and limbs just to keep the Tuna Festival peaceful and successful, CSupt Serapio chose to hold the traditional boodle fight at the new Madrasah Multi-Purpose Building at Purok Maguindanao, Barangay Labangal here.
Rajahmuda Alimudin G. Hassan, al Haj, chairman of the GSC Muslim Council of Elders, would lead the more or less 200 volunteers coming from his own Sugoda Buayan Royal House, SBRH-Task Force Salam, Task Force Salam-Dadiangas South Chapter, Task Force Salam-Fatima Chapter, SUBATAGEN, Kappa Rho Kappa-Knights of the Right Keeper, and Alpha Kappa Rho-Skeptron Task Force.
The boodle fight would also serve as Serapio's pre-Ramadan meeting with the Muslim leaders and volunteers.
After the thanksgiving mass at the General Paulino Santos Shrine early morning last September 5, Serapio, City Mayor Pedroa Acharon Jr, Col Medardo P Geslani, commanding officer of Joint Task Force Gensan, and Marfinio Y. Tan, reelected president of the SOCSKSARGEN Fishing Federation, took time to greet and thank the Muslim volunteers who showed solidarity with their Christian brothers.
Both Col Geslani and Tan committed to attend the boodle fight that was proposed impromptu by the regional police chief during the September 5 GSP Shrine gathering. (PIA-SarGen) [top]
