DOLE vows to provide assistance to Nueva Vizcaya IPs
BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya (September 12) -- The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) recently vowed to provide financial assistance for the purchase of a weaving machine to be used in the production of native attire.
"I am directing our regional as well as provincial office to study the possibility of providing assistance to the indigenous people of Nueva Vizcaya," undersecretary Romeo Lagman in a visit here last week said.
Lagman was in the province to personally deliver an initial P500,000.00 check for the purchase of food processing project of EVA Food Processors' Association in barangay Kirang in Aritao town.
The undersecretary was also impressed with the quality of products being presented at the Ammungan Hall here, saying the products can compete with the ones sold in Baguio City.
According to Lagman, the funds being handed by the DOLE are intended to generate employment in the countryside which targets the Poverty Free Zone areas.
There are 57 Poverty Free Zones in the country and 16 are in the pipeline which includes areas in Cagayan Valley, according to Lagman.
"The recipients must always bear in mind that the funds should be used for the purpose it was intended to so that we can also help in improving your own life and your community," he stressed.
Lagman also urged partner agencies to continue their unity and cooperation to help address future problems that may arise. (PIA NVizcaya) [top]
