Erap guilty for plunder, not guilty for perjury - Sandigan
Manila (12 September) -- After six-long years of trial at the Sandigan Bayan, Former President Joseph Ejercito Estrada today was found guilty for the case of plunder and not guilty for the charge of perjury.
Accordingly, the former Chief Executive is charged with reclusion perpetua and will continue to be detained at Camp Capinpin in Tanay, Rizal.
Malacaņang recently said that whatever decisions the Sandigan Bayan will arrive at have been properly deliberated, stressing that everybody is equal in the face of law.
The Palace also called on the nation to respect and accept whatever the verdict on the case and remain calm.
Meanwhile, the Philippine National Police and the Armed Forces is now on nationwide full alert while government's security forces remain vigilant to maintain peace and uphold and enforce the verdict the anti-graft court handed down. (PIA-MMIO) [top]
