Media to rate Pangasinan PNP performance
By Danny O. Sagun
Pangasinan (12 September) -- THE Pangasinan Press and Radio Club is poised to conduct a performance rating of the police in the province this third week of September.
A resolution recently adopted by the club called on its club president, Charles Tabayoyong, to conduct the performance rating.
The resolution (003-07) said that the public needs to be "suitably and appropriately appraised on how the PNP in Pangasinan is faring in the performance of their (sic) sworn duties and responsibilities in order to determine whether commendation or condemnation is to be given."
"The attainment of sustainable development and economic growth of the province requires an effective campaign against lawlessness, violence and all forms of illegal activities," it also said.
The media club claimed that the officers and members of the PPRCI were in a perfect position to rate the performance of the Pangasinan police in the campaign against criminality, illegal drugs and illegal gambling especially jueteng, because of their daily chore to gather and report news.
It was not immediately known if the other media club - the Pangasinan Tri-Media Association under President Orpheus Velasco - would be involved in the undertaking, if ever.
Persistent rumors about mediamen receiving jueteng money are giving a bad impression on the Pangasinan media. (PIA-Pangasinan) [top]
