CSC commissioner keynotes Region 8 Frontline Service Fair

By Jonnie H. Buenaventura

TACLOBAN CITY (September 13) -- No less than Commissioner Cesar D. Buenaflor of the Civil Service Commission (CSC) graced the 4th annual service fair celebration held at Kanhuraw Convention Center, Tacloban City scheduled on September 13-14, 2007.

According to Atty. Buenaflor, the celebration of the 107th Philippine Civil Service Anniversary is highlighted by making some of the frontline services of National Government Agencies and Local Government Units available to the public under one roof, to make them aware of the services rendered by these institutions.

The Commissioner emphasized that public service is a public trust. "We in the government service provide services not for the few but for all the people who need our services," he said.

Atty. Rodolfo Encajonado, CSC-8 Regional Director, said that this year's service fair showcases selected frontline services of government agencies. The participation is lesser compared to the previous years. This two-day affair includes jobs fair where local and national private entities are participating to conduct job hiring on their prospective applicants.

The Department of Health conducts blood-letting services, FBS screening, blood pressure taking and other services that will be conducted among participating agencies.

The participating agencies were selected based on the launching of the new CSC program dubbed as PASADA of Public Service Deliver Audit Assistance which aims primarily to improve the delivery of public service by systematically increasing the operational efficiency of government units, he said.

Hon. Cristina Gonzales-Romualdez, Tacloban City councilor thanked the civil servants for their legacy to sustain public service over their personal necessity. Services rendered to clients are worth more than material things, she said.

The multifarious services that the partners in government agencies offer during this 2-day affair will make the government closer to the people and will make them aware where their taxes go, she said. (PIA-8) [top]
