Frontline Service Fair opens in Tacloban City

Tacloban City (September 13) -- In line with the government's thrust of ensuring that government services are more accessible to the people and in connection with the 107th Philippine Civil Service Anniversary celebration, the national agencies in Region 8 spearheaded by the Civil Service Commission formally open the two-day Frontline Service Fair at the Kanhuraw Convention Center today.

What makes the Frontline Service Fair unique is that the public will be able to avail of the services of nineteen government agencies in one venue.

The Frontline Service Fair will be formally opened at 8:30 in the morning and will close at 5:00 o'clock in the afternoon from September 13 to September 14, 2007.

Nineteen government agencies will participate in the Frontline Service Fair. Among them are the Department of Health which will provide blood typing and bloodletting services; the Department of Labor and Employment which will conduct a Jobs Fair wherein 10 local companies have already signified their intention to join; and the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration was invited to provide agencies for foreign employment.

In case the applicants need to get their NBI clearances, the National Bureau of Investigation will also participate in the Fair. The Department of Foreign Affairs will also accept and process passport applications right there at the Frontline Service Fair.

The National Statistics Office will also participate for the authentication of birth certificates.

The Philippine Postal Corporation will participate in order to service the public who needs to have Postal IDs while the Land Transportation Office will be participating in order to accept applications for driver's license.

The Civil Service Commission will accept applications for the Professional and Sub-professional career examinations slated in October.

TESDA will conduct free competency assessments during the Fair. The free assessment is usually given on weekends but this time, even if it is weekday, the assessments will be free.

The other participating agencies are NFA for rice retailing, BIR for those who want to get their TIN numbers, Philhealth, Pag-ibig Fund, GSIS, the province of Leyte will offer the ICOT Caravan services and the Philippine Information Agency which will be in charged of registration of clients.

The public is invited to visit the Frontline Service Fair and avail of the services which are being offered. Also, those who will visit the fair are requested to register with the Secretariat composed of PIA 8 staff so that the services rendered by the various agencies during the duration of the fair will be properly documented.
