Tangub City joins nationwide Alay Lakad, bares Ms. Tourism candidates
TANGUB City (13 September) -- City Mayor Jennifer Wee-Tan led officials, students, civic groups, and government and private employees in a two-and-a-half-kilometer Alay Lakad (Walk for a Cause) around the city early this month to raise funds for two important projects in the city.
Proceeds of the walk, which started at 4:45 a.m. from the City Hall to the seaport in Barangay Silanga, will be used for the construction of a separate cell for women and children offenders at the Bureau of Jail and Management Penology (BJMP), as well as for educational assistance to poor-but-deserving high school students.
The activity was highlighted by the formal presentation of the 12 candidates for Miss Tangub City Tourism 2007 from different clustered agencies, namely: Kristine Petiluna (Unified High Schools), Joy Saavedra (Gov. Alfonso D. Tan College), Dian Crausus (Local Government Unit), Apple Mae Entendez (North District) Anette Candia (Tangub City National high School), Emma Alngohuro (Central District), Kristine Mae Sarmento (South District), Reynalyn R. Alingaro (Southwest District) Meljeva Tavera (Doņa Maria D. Tan Memorial Hospital), Marife Sinining (Northwestern Mindanao State College), Mary Joy Rato (National Agencies) and Jhona Irish Emeterio (Association of Barangay Chairmen/Sangguniang Kabataan).
