Tacloban workshop tackles mainstreaming disaster risk management
Tacloban City (September 14) -- Amidst the natural disasters that Region 8 is prone to, a Regional Consultation-Workshop on Mainstreaming Disaster Risk Management is scheduled to be conducted by NEDA 8 on September 17.
This was announced by NEDA 8 Director Buenaventura Go-soco Jr. who is the vice chairman of the Regional Development Council of Eastern Visayas.
Director Go-soco said that the consultation-workshop will be held at 9:00 o'clock in the morning at the Hotel Alejandro in Tacloban City.
The workshop, Director Go-soco informed, is primarily aimed at generating inputs from local and regional stakeholders and determine areas of complementation on disaster management among agencies and local government units.
The participants to this workshop will come from the Regional Development of Eastern Visayas, the Regional and Provincial Land Use Committee and other major stakeholders on disaster management in the Region, including the private sector.
The workshop brings to the fore the capability in the regional level to mainstream Disaster Risk Management in the development and physical planning process. Gaps and recommendations on mainstreaming Disaster Risk Management in regional development and physical planning are expected to be also identified during the workshop.
It is also hoped that the existing technical expertise at the regional level will be identified together with the government agency personnel who will spearhead the mainstreaming activity. (PIA 8) [top]
