AgSur businessmen agree with guilty verdict on Erap

by Jose Jemuel B. Dael

Agusan del Sur (September 14) -- The guilty verdict of former President Erap Estrada on the plunder case is "a win for the people" according to Felix Espeso, the Secretary of the Agusan del Sur Chamber of Commerce and Industry Foundation, Inc.

Espeso added that the evidence against Estrada is strong and what happened is only a question of evidence beyond reasonable doubt.

He added that the conviction of former President Joseph Estrada should serve as a warning to those corrupt officials and employees in the government.

Espeso is hoping that the guilty verdict of the Sandiganbayan to former President Estrada will not end with the decision but will continue until those in the government service who are corrupt are penalized.

He said that if corruption will not be stopped, "what will become of the country in the years to come for our children and our children's children.

However, Lotlot Quijada, 26, a multicab driver of the Multicab Operators Association in San Francisco is saddened about the guilty verdict saying former President Estrada is just a victim of the circumstances created by some high ranking people.

Quijada said Former President Estrada is innocent.

On the other hand, President Legal Counsel Sergio Apostol said the Sandiganbayan and the Ombudsman are dead serious in going after grafters in government. (PIA-Agusan del Sur) [top]
