Tacloban council gives recognition to deserving agency heads

Tacloban City (September 14) -- During the recently concluded Culmination Program of the 13th National Crime Prevention Week held at the KIMRO Conference Hall, some deserving agency heads together with a barangay tanod in the City of Tacloban were given due recognition by the Regional Peace and Order Council (RPOC) chaired by the Philippine National Police Regional Office 8 Director Abner Cabalquinto.
Representatives coming from the different coordinating agencies, members of the RPOC, and some barangay officials were present during the culmination and awarding ceremonies.
Among the awardees were Tacloban City Mayor Alfred S. Romualdez, Parole and Probation Administration (PPA) Regional Director Arturo O. Gabrieles, PFC Elizar Semeniano of the Philippine Marine Corps, a number of barangay tanod in the City of Tacloban Danilo Daban, and the Police Community Relations Section of the Tacloban City Police Station.
On the other hand, relative to the observance of the National Crime Prevention Week, the Philippine Information Agency through its Regional Director Erlinda Olivia P. Tiu conducted press conferences and TV program to promote the significance of said activity with participating agencies as guests.
Meanwhile, it was learned from PPA Information Officer Jeanette Avorque that Director Gabrieles is the representative of the Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB) in region 8. According to her, last 17 November 2006, DDB awarded Director Gabrieles a Plaque of Appreciation for his significant contribution towards the attainment of a drug free Philippines.
To date, Director Gabrieles is presently a consultant of the Regional Drug Rehabilitation Center in Eastern Visayas otherwise known as SALAG based in Dulag, Leyte.
This years observance of the activity is centered on the theme "Crime Prevention: A Global Concern" with the slogan "Mapayapang Pilipinas, Masaganang Bukas". (PIA-8) [top]
