CONSUMERNET bares activities to mark CWM

BAGUIO CITY (14 September) -- The CONSUMERNET-CAR, an alliance of agencies supporting consumer rights and interests, has lined up a series of activities to mark this year's celebration of Consumer Welfare Month (CWM) this coming October.
The celebration will be launched with a motorcade in the morning of October 3 to be participated in by members of the Indigenous Peoples group, the statistics group, the productivity group and the members of the CONSUMERNET. It will start from the Baguio Convention Center (BCC)-Session Road-Magsaysay Avenue- Bonifacio Rotonda-Public Market-Harrison Road then proceed to the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Office for a Kapihan/press conference.
Another activity will be an exhibit on October 15-17 at the SM Atrium to be participated by members of CONSUMERNET, IP group, productivity and statistics.
Also in an effort to attain the objective of having a well-informed consumer/customer/client, there will be lectures on consumer welfare orientation, consumer empowerment, LPG safety all to be conducted on October.
Aside from the lectures, members of the CONSUMERNET has identified Barangay Sta. Rosa in Bangued, Abra as a venue for the conduct of an outreach program cum medical dental mission tentatively scheduled on October 26.
The CONSUMERNET is composed of different government line agencies and Non-Government Organizations who continuously work together in order to improve their services, programs or projects for their intended beneficiaries, consumers or clienteles.
This year's celebration is being spearheaded by the Department of Education (DepEd) with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) as secretariat. Other activities include radio and television interviews and a poster-making contest. (PIA) [top]
