Taiwan-Fil biz matching to highlight DATE '07

Davao City (15 September) -- An 18-man delegation from Taiwan is coming in with their food processing machines and equipment to be exhibited in the Davao Trade Expo 2007 on October 23-25.
After a familiarization tour participated by local small and medium entrepreneurs together with the Department of Trade and Industry, the local delegation has seen potential innovations in the said country which they could make use of if only offered in the Philippines.
After the said tour, DTI initiated the initial brokering to find possible business between local SMEs and those of the Taiwanese companies.
DTI XI assistant regional director Marizon Loreto said, "We were able to handle the initial negotiation that is found necessary by the Taiwanese group before deciding to finally come," she said.
Interested SMEs which already had initial talks with the Taiwan delegation are expected to invest and buy those machines which are believed capable to make these SMEs globally-competitive.
Besides Taiwanese, Chinese from mainland China have also committed to join the said expo along with businessmen from Saudi Arabia, Korea, and Japan.
DATE 2007 will also serve as a venue where local SMEs will get to showcase their particular products to potential buyers both local and international.
Scheduled trainings are also part of the expo which would provide the participants new technologies in product development and strategies to improve product quality to meet global standards. (PIA XI) [top]
