Ifugao opens small and medium entrepreneurs bazaar

by Jina Shirley G. Dacmay

LAMUT, Ifugao (15 September) -- To boost the marketing activity of Small and Medium Entrepreneurs (SMEs) in the province, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and the Provincial government has launched the "SMEs BAZAAR " at the Provincial Livelihood Center here.

Valentin Baguidudol, DTI Provincial Director said the launching of the SME Bazaar in support to the livelihood development of Ifugao, encourages SMEs to bring their products to the Provincial Livelihood Center on a consignment basis and for consumers to patronize the products for sustainability.

While Ifugao is one of the few provinces that is a regular exhibitor in national and international trade fairs, 'with an open world as our market, our products are not yet the best we can offer', he pointed out.

He acknowledged inadequacies like lack of knowledge and skills and product quality efficient and production technology especially in handicrafts for international fairs. These have to be addressed in order to exploit the world market, he said.

There is a need to improve business climate by putting into place policies in support to our businessmen and/or to relax policies that restrains our businessmen.

Moreover, there is a need to put up support services for our business sector because the business sector translates employment for the province, he added.

Displayed during the Bazaar opening are OTOP products (tinawon rice, yuyu, tilapia), arts and crafts, baskets, furniture, garments, fashion accessories, fruits and vegetables, raw and processed foods, fruit wines and native delicacies. (PIA Ifugao) [top]
