Barangay, SK election ban starts Sept 29 until Nov 13
Tacloban City (September 15) -- The election ban in connection with the October 29 synchronized Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections will start on September 29 and will end on November 13.
This is contained in the Comelec Resolution No. 8301 promulgated on September 13, 2007.
The ban includes the bearing, carrying or transporting firearms or other deadly weapons. The ban also includes the use of security personnel or bodyguards.
Also part of the ban is the bearing of arms by any member of security or police organization of government agencies and other similar organizations and the organization or maintenance of reaction forces, to begin on September 29, 2007 and to end on November 13, 2007.
Any violation on election ban will mean disqualification from running for any position in the synchronized Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections.
Comelec Resolution No. 8301 also amended the dates for the filing of certificates of candidacy in connection with the October 29, 2007 Synchronized Barangay and SK Elections.
The certificate candidacy shall be filed on any day from September 29 to October 18, with the Office of the Election Officer of the city or municipality concerned.
The officials to be elected in each barangay are the Punong Barangay and seven (7) Sangguniang Barangay Kagawad.
For the Sangguniang Kabataan elections, the officials to be elected are one SK Chairman and seven (7) Sangguniang Kabataan Kagawad. (PIA 8) [top]
