Kiangan dads oppose proposed Lagawe dump site

KIANGAN, Ifugao (15 September) -- As APEC leaders reaffirm commitment to United Nation framework on climate change during the 2007 summit in Sydney, Australia, the municipal dads here enacted a resolution opposing the issuance of an environment compliance certificate regarding the dumping of garbage along the Ibulao river.
Resolution no 93 series of 2007 states that it is the policy of the Municipal Government here to maintain cleanliness and sanitation at all times within the municipality of Kiangan.
Mayor Jonathan Cuyahon here said that there is a proposed digging of a dumping site near the Ibulao River to be used by municipality of Lagawe.
"I went to personally talked to Mayor Ceasar Cabbigat of Lagawe not to continue the said project as it will pollute the river. I hope the municipal chief executive will adhere to our plea", Cuyahon said.
As stated in the resolution which will be forwarded to the Department of Environment and Natural Resources here, the municipal officials oppose the issuance of an environment compliance to any claimant regarding the dumping of garbage along the Ibulao river.
The Ibulao river is the boundary between the municipalities of Lagawe and Kiangan and the major contributor of water for the Magat Dam. (PIA-Ifugao) [top]
