PGMA leads inauguration of P289-M Zamboanga del Norte Medical Center September 17
DIPOLOG CITY, Zamboanga del Norte (16 September) -- President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo will lead the inauguration tomorrow (Monday) of the P289-million Zamboanga del Norte Medical Center (ZNMC), a tertiary hospital that would improve the quality of health care services to the people of the province.
Aside from improved health services, the new medical center would also provide affordable and accessible health care to the people of neighboring provinces.
Under the President's health reform program, the Department of Health (DOH) has been mandated to improve and increase access to health care services, and reduce the financial burden on poor families through the provision of low-priced medicines and universal coverage under the National Health Insurance Program (NHIP).
After the inauguration, the President, who is coming from her visit to Pagadian City in nearby Zamboanga del Sur, is also scheduled to hold a Pulong Bayan with local and national government officials to address the needs and concerns of residents in the province.
Zamboanga del Norte, the biggest among the three provinces in the Zamboanga Peninsula in terms of land area, is among the poorest provinces in the country. (OPS/PIA) [top]
