1st Leyte Business Month celebration officially launched before Tacloban media

Tacloban City (September 16) -- "Together We Can" which is this year's theme for the Leyte Business Month, is a manifestation of the urgent need for all stakeholders to help promote and market Leyte as an alternative investment destination, Mr. Orlando Uy said. He said that the province of Leyte is rich not only in natural assets but also human resources.

This pronouncement was of the LCCI President during the official launching to the media of the first ever Leyte Province Business Month celebration which is being jointly spearheaded by the Leyte Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Provincial Government of Leyte, was officially launched to the media on September 14, 2007 at the Leyte Park Hotel.

The month-long Leyte Province Business Month Celebration will start on October 1 with a motorcade, launching program at the Governors' Hall, Press Conference which will be moderated by PIA, and Gabay sa Pagnenegosyo Cable TV Shows.

Numerous activities like business seminars, Jatropha Production Investment Forum, Franchising Forum, Tourism and Trade Fairs, Best LGU Website Contest, ICT Economic Development Forum Contest, Familiarization Tour of Philippine Tour Operators, Skills Trainings, among others, all aimed at highlighting the investment opportunities which abound in the province of Leyte.

The Media Launching which was organized and moderated by the Philippine Information Agency was also attended by Mr. Samuel Tiu who is the chairperson of the first Leyte Province Business Month celebration, Mr.Joel Caminade, Mr. Henry Weechee and Mr. Melvin Rompal, who are LCCI directors. Engr. Wilson Chan who is also a director of LCCI and owner of the Leyte Park Hotel was also present to share his insights.

Also present were the Regional Directors and agency representatives who are partners in the implementation of the various activities lined up for the month-long Business Month celebration, Department of Tourism Karina Tiopes, Director Ernesto Hilvano of the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, Director Forter Pugoon of the Department of Labor and Employment, Mr. Frank Paragatos of DTI Leyte, Ms. Evelyn Mionda of the Department of Agriculture,Mr. Carlito Buantes and Ms. Zenaida Javier of DENR, Manager Juliet Uy of PCA Leyte, Ms. Susan Calero who is representing the Province of Leyte, and Mr. Asisclo Beleņa and Lemuel Montes of DTI Region 8.
