PIA trains Region 6 paper advisers and public info officers

Iloilo City (17 September) -- The Philippine Information Agency (PIA) here is conducting a simultaneous training for Government Information Officers (GIOs) and campus paper advisers at the Iloilo Grand Hotel.

At least 50 GIOs took part in the "Media Techniques and Community Communications Training" for Information Officers/Community Development Information Officers (CDIOs) regionwide.

The training aims to equip IOs with the basics of TV and radio broadcast hosting, community organizing and strengthen their grasp on theories of communication.

Also, about 50 campus advisers joined the "Journalistic Writing and Campus Paper Management Seminar-Workshop" that aims to update the participants on the trends in journalistic writing and enhance their competence in campus paper management.

In her welcome remarks, PIA Assistant Director General-Visays Cluster and Regional Director Dr. Janet Mesa said the I.O.s are the vital link of the government to the people who need to equip themselves with the needed skills for them to be effective in their work.
