IABC Quill Awards opens, accepts entries

By Minerva BC Newman

Cebu, Philippines (18 September) -- The International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) announces the opening of this year's Philippine Quill Awards and is now accepting entries until October 22, 2007.

Roni Tapia-Merk, IABC chapter president and CEO of Merk Communication said, "As more Philippine entries are winning the international Gold Quill, we moved the holding of the Philippine Quill Awards to Nov. 14 this year to give Philippine entries more time to meet the early February deadline of the international contest."

The IABC is the leading resource for effective communications practices. It provides products, services, activities, and networking opportunities to help people and organizations achieve excellence in public relations, employee communication, marketing communication, public affairs, and other forms of communication.

The Philippine Quill Awards, renamed from the Gold Quill Awards is the country's most prestigious and relevant award for business communicators, universally acknowledged as the communication industry benchmark for excellence and accomplishments.

The 2007 Philippines Quill Awards are open to all professional communicators including (a) communication strategists, managers and practitioners (b) corporate, government and NGO communicators; (c) agency executives, creatives, HR and marketing managers.

According to a press release from IABC, entries must include original material. Syndicated, borrowed, reprinted or stock materials are unacceptable.

For this year's competition, one must submit work that was produced and measured at anytime in the past 12 months and have not been entered in an earlier Quill Awards regardless of its having won or lost in the previous competition.

This year's Quill Awards will have a third category, Communication Creatives, in addition to the Communication Management and Communication skills categories. All in all, there are 26 categories to choose from.

All entries must be accompanied with an official entry form and payment of P5000 and mailed only to IABC Philippines secretariat at P9 Penthouse, Manila Bank bldg., 6772 Ayala Ave., Makati City or you can fax entries to (02) 751-3205.

All entries become property of IABC Philippines and may be used in its publications and other resources. If there are proprietary or copy-righted materials in your entry, notify IABC Philippines in writing.

Winners, the organizer said are chosen by a jury of peers, who use an assessment method that has proven to be fair, objective and reliable for more than 3 decades.

The formal awarding ceremony of the Philippine Quill Awards is set on November 14, 2007 at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Makati City. For more information on the Philippine Quill Awards, call the IABC Secretariat at 750-5667 or 810-1631 ext. 123, or email at iabc_philippines@yahoo.com. (PIA-Cebu w/IABC PR) [top]
