Lanao del Norte conducts anti-conflict drill

TUBOD, Lanao del Norte (19 September) -- The Lanao del Norte Provincial Disaster Command Center (PDCC) recently conducted a simulation drill on conflict emergency preparedness in cooperation with the Regional Disaster Coordinating Council, Provincial Government, Municipal Government of Bacolod town, local residents and multi stakeholders representatives.

Governor Khalid Q. Dimaporo has pledged measures for the betterment and security of the people of the province. He has implemented the Provincial Disaster Command Center which is manned with nine (9) sector representatives that would readily respond to conflict and natural disaster.

The conflict drill was also joined by members of the AFP, PNP and volunteer groups as frontiers in actual drilling which was started at barangay Mati, Bacolod town as conflict area. Experts from the Regional Disaster Coordinating Council were among the observers of the said drill.

All officials were briefed by Governor Dimaporo with his intentions to really protect the people of the province and to be always alert on possible disaster and conflict.

"We need to plan out to prevent disaster and conflict these would jeopardize the peaceful existence, safety and health of our people," Gov. Dimaporo said.

In an interview, PDCC Commander Lyndon G. Calica related that provincial officials have integrated their plans as to how the command center could reach down even to the Barangay level. He said they are now coordinating with municipal leaders to promote awareness of the system and let it be appreciated by local folk.

Also, Calica emphasized that his men will conduct an inventory of all communication paraphernalia and plan how to create a more efficient provincial communication network. (Lanao del Norte LGU) [top]
