Deep probe on slay of 2 Ilocos women ordered

CAMP PRESIDENT QUIRINO, Bantay, Ilocos Sur (September 19) -- Senior Superintendent 9Virgilio G. Fabros, newly–installed Ilocos Sur police provincial director, has ordered the in-depth investigation on the ambush–slaying of two women and wounding three others by unidentified suspects along the national highway in Sitio Cacaldingan, Barangay Lungog, Narvacan, Ilocos Sur last week.
The dead victims were identified as Imelda Cantoria, 43, a resident of Barangay Sta. Lucia, Narvacan, Ilocos Sur but presently residing at Bangued, Abra; and Alda Cabana Y Cantoria, 20, pregnant and resident of Barangay San Jose, Narvacan, Ilocos Sur; while the three critically injured victims were Alex Cantoria Y Talactac, 45; Eric James Cabana Y Bruno, 21 and his daughter, Jamie Cabana Y Cantoria, 2.
Fabros said, "Everybody is entitled of justice, no matter who they are."
He revealed that there's already a lead for the solution of the incident but he did not elaborate pending the investigation of the incident.
It was recalled that before the incident, all the victims were reportedly on board their Toyota Lite Ace Van, color gray bearing plate number PTV 244 going to Abra after attending a hearing on drug related case at the regional trial court in Narvacan town.
As per report received by police authorities, the suspects blocked the path of the victim's running vehicle before they shot them several times with the use Caliber.45 based on the recovered five (5) empty shells and 2 slugs inside the van by the responding policemen.
All the victims were rushed to Central Ilocos Sur District Hospital (CISDH) in Paratong, Narvacan, Ilocos Sur but Imelda Cantoria and Alda Cabana were declared dead on arrival. (PIA Ilocos Sur) [top]
