2 NPA rebels surrender to Ilocos cop

CAMP PRESIDENT QUIRINO, Bantay, Ilocos Sur (September 19) -- Two members of the New People's Army (NPA) operating in Cagayan Valley and Northern Luzon were surrendered last Friday to the police and local chief executive of San Juan, Ilocos Sur, it was learned.
Senior Inspector Benjie Louis Tremor, San Juan town's Chief of Police, identified the surrendered rebels as Alfredo Dulatre y Quinonez aka Gitna/Joecris/Aljuna/Abante/Navy/Yes, 37,and a native of Brgy Mabbayad, Echague, Isabela; and Crisanta Subac Dulatre aka Bryan/Dona/Dana/Cristy/Janice/Chona, 33, a native of Pinili, Abulog, Cagayan; both under Samahang Yunit Propaganda 1 (SYP1), Southern Front, Cagayan Valley Regional Committee operating in Isabela particularly at the towns of Echague, Jones, San Guillermo and San Agustin and both were married and residing at Brgy Nagsupotan, San Juan town.
San Juan town Mayor Benjamin V. Sarmiento immediately facilitated the surrender of the two rebels after the intelligence operatives from the different army and the police units confirmed that they were members of the communist group.
"After a series of negotiations, we are able to convince them to return to the fold of law," Tremor told.
Tremor said that both rebels were hiding in Brgy Nagsupotan, San Juan town since 2000but lie-lowed with their communist activities due to life difficulties.
In a further investigation, Alfredo Dulatre was found out to have undergone Basic Military Course (BMC), a former 2nd Assistant Secretary/CO and a member of Samahang Yunit Propaganda 1 (SYP1) of Southern Front Cagayan Valley Regional Committee. While, Crisanta Subac Dulatre also undergone a Basic Military Course (BMC) and a former Squad Supply Officer (S4) of said Front and both listed number 7 and 8 in the Order of Battle Watch list of the army and police intelligence units.
