Cagayan de Oro City (19 September) -- THE 2nd Tambanipa Festival highlighted the many activities that made up the annual fiesta celebration of Barangay Bonbon in Cagayan de Oro City this year.

Barangay Chair Felix Mabalacad disclosed that the Tambanipa Festival, which is now on its second year, is their fitting tribute to the abundance of sardines (tamban) and nipa palm in the barangays, which are two important sources of income of the people in the area.

Mabalacad said that this year's Tambanipa Festival held Sept. 9, Zone 3 emerged as the overall champion and was also adjudged as the Best in Costume. Zone 3 received a cash prize of P6,000 plus trophy.

Zone 5 won a cash prize of P4,000 plus trophy as the second placer, Zone 4 received P3,000 as 3rd placer and Zone 7 bagged P2,000 as 4th placer. Zone 5 also won as the Best in Street Dancing.

Meanwhile, Merly Gomez of Zone 3, Bonbon was crowned as Mrs. Barangay Women Development Council this year.
