CHR puts up human rights action center in Nueva Vizcaya
BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya (September 20) -- In a bid to help facilitate human rights cases in the province, the Commission on Human Rights (CHR) recently established a human rights center within the provincial capitol here.
Edwin Carabbacan, provincial human rights center head said he hopes that cases emanating from human rights abuses will now be properly handled and accommodated.
"In the past, many cases have not been properly documented because of the absence of knowledgeable people. We hope that with our help, we can provide the necessary requirements in service justice to these victims of human rights abuses," he said.
Part of their general program, Carabbacan said is the creation of Barangay Human Rights Centers (BHRCs) covering the 275 barangays of Nueva Vizcaya to bring their services closer to the people.
The BHRCs, he added will be manned by volunteer workers who have underwent a series of seminars and trainings on human rights.
The BHRCs, he said will be supported by local government units along with other national government agencies such as the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), Philippine Information Agency, the provincial government and other partner agencies. (PIA NVizcaya) [top]
