PIA calls on GIOs to "flex networking skills"

Iloilo City (20 September) -- A PIA official urged Government Information Officers here gathered for a training to flex their networking capabilities in their efforts to improve the lives of people in the community.

According to Human Resource and Development Staff Director Grace Agoncillo, GIOs as networkers, should not be chasing problems but rather help people in the community solve their own problems as well as offer solutions. This strategy helps make projects and programs sustainable, she added.

Agoncillo who is also a United Nations International Children's Education Fund (UNICEF) Consultant to the Philippines and China told GIOs to utilize various strategies to influence policy makers and the people they work with to effectively push their development agenda in bring about change.

She was one of the speakers in the three-day "Media Techniques and Community Communications Training for Information Officers and Community Development Information Officers" held here at the Iloilo Grand Hotel from September 17 to 19. (PIA-LOL) [top]
