Feature: Youth highly needed in attainment of peace

Tacloban City (20 September) -- The world is craving for peace, even singers' songs have only one common purpose "peace on earth".
Nobody in this world is indispensable, peace is the prime concern of all. The youth being the next generation is given much attention to put emphasis to show peace on their day to day activities.
The entire nation is celebrating the 4th National Peace Consciousness Month dubbed as "Kapayapaan Para sa Kabataan at Kinabukasan" the whole month of September is peace consciousness month.
According to Usec. Nabil Tan, Deputy Presidential Adviser on Peace Process (OPAPP) before a peace symposium with the youth held at Tacloban Convention Center on September 20, 2007 the government has formulated a peace process towards the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF), Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) even Communist Party of the Philippines- New Peoples Army- National Democratic Front (CPP-NPA-NDF) and other legitimate organization to come-up into an agreement to discuss matters pertaining to peace agreement to craft ideas on how they will return to the folds of law.
Under Secretary Tan established the fact that a country will move forward if there is peace, no matter how good your mission and dedicated you are, war will torn out all your effort and will result to nothing. The victims of war are not the combatants of the government and of the rebel group but the civilians are the most affected by the arm conflict, he said.
Building a strong republic will rely the involvement of all citizens of the Philippines the youth being the next generation are encourage to have a self fulfilling vision by not allowing themselves to be part of the arm conflict.
According to Romeo Montenegro, Director Media and Public Affairs, Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace Process (OPAPP) the harsh reality of war is killing innocent civilians. Injustice and poverty become the prime ingredient why our brothers are arming themselves inorder to justify their want and accomplished what has not been achieved by them.
A child warrior before, Kashim Lauto, Young Advocates for Peace from Barira, Shariff Kabunsuan shares his plight during the time of war where his parents are both members of the Bangsamoro Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) that arm conflict results to devastating effect specially to the innocent children who are victims of the arm conflict. "Our physical, mental, moral and spiritual are tortured to the effects of arm struggle", where aiming someday we attain peace and end this arm conflict, he said. (PIA-8) [top]
