"Bigasan ni Gloria" outlets assure rice supply in Region 2
Tuguegarao City (September 21) -- "The price of NFA rice remains at P18.00 a kilo," this was the assurance made by National Food Authority Assistant Manager Natividad Arugay when she guested the Tipon Tipan Program of PIA recently.
She assured that there is enough supply of the low-priced rice in the 21 Bigasan ni Gloria in market outlets in the region.
Arugay also mentioned the organization of Palengke Watch Teams tasked to monitor the price of NFA rice being sold in NFA outlets.
The team will likewise monitor the status of the Bigasan ni Gloria outlets that have been established in line with PGMA's hunger mitigation program.
NFA employees, on the other hand, are closely monitoring the movement of rice supply to ensure that NFA rice is not diverted to unauthorized outlets or sold above the fixed price of P18 a kilo, Arugay said.
Meantime, she called on rice retailers to follow the rules and regulations set by NFA and the local chief executives to help keep an eye on rice stalls to assure the stability of prices.
Arugay also warned violators of NFA rules and regulations of possible cancellation of rice allocations, fine of P1,000 - P4,0000 or cancellation of rice permits.
Meanwhile, law-abiding outlets will be given more rice allocations as incentive and certificates of recognition to be awarded during the National Grains Inventory Week celebration on Sept. 20-28, 2007.
Arugay assured the public of enough supply of NFA rice until the end of the year. (PIA Cagayan) [top]
