Cotabato City (21 September) -- The Department of Health (DOH) Center for Health Development XII is calling on all Local Government Units and Non Government and Civic Organizations for the second follow-up measles mass immunization campaign scheduled on October 15 up to November 15, 2007. All 9 months to 48 months old children nationwide will be given a dose of measles vaccine. For the Second Round of "Garantisadong Pambata" child health services shall focus only on the provision of measles vaccines, Vitamin A and deworming drugs for eligible children.
This year's campaign requires extra efforts like door-to-door vaccination and validation of masterlist from barangays to ensure these children are immunized.
According to Director Dumama, the Secretary of Health issued a moratorium on all health programs / projects. It means that all program and project activities scheduled on these dates should be postponed and rescheduled on a later date so that field health workers can focus their attention to the Second Round of the "Garantisadong Pambata", particularly ensuring high coverage of eligible children.
Director Dumama said that we should be committed to eliminate measles in the Philippines by year 2008. So everyone is enjoined to participate and give full support to this campaign. (DOH 12/PIA 12) [top]
