Tagalog News: Sapat na suplay ng basic food items para sa mamamayan tiniyak

Manila (21 September) -- Seniguro ni Department of Agriculture (DA) Secretary Arthur Yap sa publiko na mayroong sapat na suplay ng bigas, gulay, karne, manok at iba pang pangunahing pangangailangan ng mamamayan sa darating na Christmas season at bago matapos ang taong 2007.

Binigyan diin ni Yap na mayroon ng 28 na mga Bagsakan Centers o drop-off centers at Barangay Food Terminals (BFTs) ang nagsimula ng magbigay ng serbisyo sa mamamayan upang maseguro ang sapat na suplay ng mga basic food items na mabibili ng mamamayan sa mas abot kayang halaga lalo na sa mga low-income consumers.

Dagdag pa ni Yap, malaking tulong din upang magkaroon ng sapat na suplay ng bigas ang bansa ang programang Quick turn-Around (QTA) ng DA kung saan umabot na sa 88,174 ektaryang mga sakahan ang nataniman ng palay at inaaasahang maaabot ng nito ang target rice production na 300,000 metric tons ngayong taon.
