Oro Tourism Office treats park aides on grand city tour

Cagayan de Oro City (21 September) -- IN a rare and grand treat for the celebration of the Tourism Week, Sept. 18 to 24, the City Tourism Office (CTO) took the city government park aides to a historical, cultural and tourism tour around the city for one week.

Imma Rae D. Gatuslao, acting city tourism officer, disclosed that the tour aims to orient the park aides on the richness of the city's culture and history which they may share to guests and local residents.

Gatuslao added that the exposure of the park aides to the various historical and tourism destinations in the city is also in line with the "My City My Pride" program of the local tourism office.

The City Tourism Office believed that even park aides need to be empowered so they can help in the city government's tourism promotion program.

Among the activities that the park aides attended were a heritage tour with the city Historical and Cultural Commission, and a tour to the Solar Power Plant of CEPALCO in Barangay Indahag.

On Monday, the park aides are also expected to visit the Lourdes College Museum.

Meanwhile, Gatuslao enjoined the residents to witness the Search for the Department of Tourism-10 Search for the Singing Ambassador, which will be held tomorrow, Sept. 22, 3:00p.m. at the SM City.

The Bag-ong Ozamiznon Cultural Dance Troupe is also set to perform at SM City tomorrow.

In the afternoon of Sunday, Sept. 23, there will be a launching of the Tourism Services Awards and a Mini Fashion Show in the same venue

The activities are part of the week-long celebration of the Tourism Week spearheaded by the Department of Tourism-10 headed by Regional Director Catalino E. Chan III.

This year's celebration of Tourism Week centers on the theme "Tourism Opens Doors for Women." (Cagayan de Oro City IO/PIA-MisOrOccCam i-Net) [top]
