LAGAWE, Ifugao (22 September) -- The National Statistics Office (NSO) here said that the population of the province has increased with the municipality of Alfonso Lista showing a biggest increase.
Although she refused to give a concrete figure saying that the results are still raw and not official, Provincial Statistics Officer Esther Dulnuan, said the population of all the 11 municipalities here increased but Alfonso Lista showed the biggest population growth by about 500 households compared to the 2000 population survey.
According to Dulnuan, the census which was set from August 1 to 29 was extended up to September 5 here due to the increase in population of the different municipalities.
Dulnuan disclosed that there was not much problem encountered by the enumerators during the survey except the weather condition which was rainy, and some barangay officials did not guide the enumerators.
Another problem mentioned was the boundaries between barangays, municipalities and provinces. "Although this is a common problem whenever we conduct census, we ask the officials to produce documents to prove their boundaries otherwise the population of the questionable areas will be status quo meaning we base it on the 2000 survey," Dulnuan said.
Meanwhile, the NSO here is conducting a third level training to 11 enumerators who were the best among the enumerators during the Population Census. According to Dulnuan, the activity aims to train the participants on editing and citing of the occupation, education and the place of study and work.
The first level of training involves the task force while n the second level is the training of the Provincial Statistics Officer and the Statisticians at the Regional Office. (PIA-Ifugao) [top]
