Kalinga producers to attend product design clinic

by L. Lopez

TABUK CITY (22 September) -- Local producers are scheduled to have product development consultancy, in preparation to the November 2-13 regional Impakabsat Trade Fair at the Alabang Festival Mall.

Noryn Bagano of the Department of Trade and Industry -Kalinga said consultants from the Design Center of the Philippines (DCP) will meet with interested exhibitors on Oct. 2, for a product design clinic and come up with a prototype design of their products to the Impakabsat Fair.

DCP will introduce prototype designs based on market trend and demand, enhancing product value and marketability, Bagano said.

DTI organizes a yearly trade fair as market support to local producers, who belong to small and micro-entrepreneur sector, a prime component of government's livelihood program to address poverty.

Bagano said the coming here of design consultants from DCP is part of their on-site consultancy to small entrepreneurs, on product designs update.

Experiences from previous trade fairs show the big impact of product design in the volume of sales as it improves labeling and packaging, Bagano said, adding that modern designs always cater to market preference.

There are at least 8 exhibitors from food processing, weaving and furniture sectors from the province, who will participate in the Alabang Impakabsat Fair. Last year, Impakabsat yielded P300, 397 in sales for local exhibitors. (PIA Kalinga) [top]
