AFP offensives vs. ASG to continue this Ramadan

Zamboanga City (22 September) -- While the Armed Forces here in Western Mindanao are one with our Muslim brothers and sisters in the observance of the Ramadan, pursuit operations against terrorists like the Abu Sayyaf will still continue during this holy month in Islam, Western Mindanao Command Chief Maj. General Nelson Allaga said in a press conference this morning.

"We are with our Muslim brothers in the observance of Ramadan. This is a time for souls-searching, but we will still be conducting major offensives against the Abu Sayyaf. We are only after the bad guys", Gen. Allaga said.

Gen. Allaga also clarified that even with the operations; there will be no collateral damage to civilians as their operations are based on confirmed intelligence report.

"Most of our operations are "Intel driven". We find out where their hideouts are and who are to be pursued, we are not going after the communities and destroy properties", Allaga stressed.

Gen. Allaga also disproved allegations of restiveness among the military.

"Right now wala naman but there will always be an attempt but everybody knows that it's a futile exercise. Walang sasama dyan. We will continue to remind them of their commitments to the Constitution, the flag and the people", he said. (PIA) [top]
