Army general asks public to help prevent attacks on cell sites
Camp Melchor F dela Cruz, Upi, Gamu, Isabela (23 September) -- Maj. Gen. Melchor J. Dilodilo, the Commanding General of the 5th Infantry Division, Philippine Army, is appealing to the public, particularly those living near vital telecommunications installations, to send information about the plans and movement of the NPA communist terrorists after recently setting four towers on fire in Sorsogon, Camarines Sur and just this Thursday, in Masbate.
"Make a single act of violence to frighten several thousands of people. This is the slogan of terrorists," Maj, Gen. Dilodilo said during a conference held in the Division Headquarters.
"The people in the area should not fear the terror acts of the NPAs because they will only be giving in to their main objective: for the people to be frightened," he further said.
The Commanding General is urging the people to remain vigilant and report any knowledge about the NPA future plans and movements, particularly near vital installations. He concluded that "the Philippine Army is doing everything to prevent similar incidents from happening in this part of northern Luzon. But the aid and cooperation of the citizens by providing information will greatly help in preempting the terror acts of the NPA." (PIA) [top]
