Reg'l consultation on JPEPA ratification set tomorrow in Cebu

Cebu City (24 September) -- Trade Usec. Thomas Aquino will be in Cebu tomorrow to give an overview of the Japan-Philippine Economic Partnership Agreement (JPEPA) as the Regional Consultation for the ratification of the JPEPA takes off tomorrow at Parklane Hotel, Cebu City.

Ambassador Donald Dee, Special Envoy for Trade Negotiations and founder and chairman of U-ACT will give a presentation on the bureaucratic implications of JPEPA and the results of the inter-agency roundtable discussion.

The one-day consultation will provide the public with a detailed understanding and balanced view on the general and specific provisions of JPEPA, determine its opportunities and costs to Philipppine-Japan Trade Relations, and clarify various issues related to its ratification by the Philippine Senate and implementation by the Philippine government.

Part of the consultation is a sectoral forum and discussion on the industry implications of the JPEPA.

The extensive advocacy and information dissemination program on the JPEPA is an undertaking of the Cebu Chamber of Commerce & Industry (CCCI), Inc. in cooperation with the Universal Access to Competitiveness and Trade (U-ACT) and the Office of the Special Envoy for Trade Negotiations, in partnership with the Department of Trade & Industry (DTI), Philippine Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Philippine Exporters' Confederation and the De la Salle University-Angelo King Institute.
